New Delhi | July 26, 2025: Today marks the 26th anniversary of India’s glorious victory in the Kargil War, a day etched in the nation’s heart as Kargil Vijay Diwas. On this day in 1999, the tricolor was triumphantly hoisted in the heights of Kargil, symbolizing the unmatched valor and sacrifice of the Indian soldiers who reclaimed every inch of our land from enemy hands.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid heartfelt tributes to the bravehearts through a post on social media, saluting their courage and immortal sacrifice. “Today is a day to remember our brave soldiers who fought fearlessly and dedicated thier life for the country and protected the people.

Across the country, the Indian Army has organized various programs to honor the courage and martyrdom of the soldiers who laid down their lives during the war. Memorial services, patriotic parades, and tributes are being held to ensure that their sacrifice continues to inspire future generations.
The Kargil War, which began on May 8, 1999, was a defining chapter in India’s military history. In harsh weather and hostile terrain at altitudes of 18,000 feet, the Indian Army displayed indomitable spirit, unwavering courage, and a love for the motherland that knew no bounds. Despite facing well-entrenched enemy positions, our soldiers fought back valiantly and reclaimed every post, eventually forcing the enemy to retreat.
