Maharashtra’s ST Corporation launches a campaign delivering student travel passes directly to schools, saving time and effort. Girls up to class 12 will continue receiving free passes under a state scheme.
Maharashtra | June 16 2025: As the new academic year kicks off today across Maharashtra, students and parents have received a major relief from the State Road Transport Corporation (ST). The long-standing hassle of queuing up at depots for travel passes has now been eliminated.
From now on, ST bus passes will be delivered directly to schools and colleges. This move, implemented under the campaign ‘ST Pass Directly to Your School’, comes as per the initiative of Transport Minister and ST Corporation Chairman Pratap Sarnaik.
Until now, students and parents had to travel to ST depots, often in groups, to apply for or collect travel passes—resulting in hours of waiting and academic disruption. But starting this year, the ST staff will issue passes on the basis of name lists provided by schools and colleges, and hand them directly to students at their institutions.
To ensure smooth execution, all school and college principals have been directed to keep updated student lists ready. The campaign officially rolls out from June 16, promising timely distribution and uninterrupted academic schedules for lakhs of students.
Additionally, ST continues to provide a 66.66% travel fare subsidy to all students, meaning they pay only a third of the full fare. Under the Punyashlok Ahilyabai Holkar Yojana, girls studying up to class 12 will continue to receive their ST passes absolutely free.
