Nagpur faces heavy rains for the third consecutive day, flooding homes and disrupting traffic. Schools are closed, and several roads remain shut. The district has received 48.9% above-average rainfall.
Nagpur | July 9, 2025— The state’s deputy capital is facing a severe weather situation as continuous rains have lashed the city for the third straight day, leading to waterlogging, traffic disruptions, and school closures.
The rainfall, which began late on Sunday night (July 6), has not stopped for over 48 hours, resulting in flood-like conditions across several low-lying areas of the city. According to district officials, Nagpur has recorded 172.2 mm of rainfall so far, eliminating the earlier 40 percent seasonal deficit.
In light of the situation, the Nagpur District Collector has declared a holiday for all private and government schools across the district to ensure the safety of students and staff.
In areas like Sadichcha Nagar in Mankapur, water has entered residential homes. Municipal workers have been deployed to open flood chambers and drain excess water from these affected zones.
On the Dhapewada–Patansavangi state highway, traffic has been completely halted at the Chandrabhaga river bridge near Brahmapuri village, as water has submerged both bridges. Similarly, Nirva–Barwa road remains closed.

- Bhiwapur – 118.6 mm
- Ramtek – 107 mm
- Mouda & Katol – 100.3 mm each
- Parshivni – 99.9 mm
- Kuhi – 98.2 mm
- Kamthi – 88.8 mm
- Umred – 80.8 mm
- Nagpur (city) – 67.8 mm
- Nagpur (rural) – 64.7 mm
- Kalmeshwar – 68.7 mm
- Saoner – 65.2 mm
- Narkhed – 53.6 mm
- Hingna – 57.5 mm
So far, the district has recorded 148.9 mm of rainfall, which is 48.9% higher than the average for this period.
Authorities are on alert and emergency response teams are being kept ready in anticipation of further rain.
