On day seven of the monsoon session, opposition leaders staged a mocking protest at Vidhan Bhavan, targeting ruling party ministers with biting slogans over corruption, luxury, and alleged policy failures.

Mumbai, 09 July 2025: The seventh day of the monsoon session in the Maharashtra legislature turned theatrical as opposition leaders launched a vocal and symbolic protest against the ruling grand alliance. With banners, slogans, and biting sarcasm, leaders from the opposition staged a sit-in on the steps of Vidhan Bhavan, targeting ministers and MLAs as they entered the building.
Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aditya Thackeray led the charge, shouting slogans and mocking specific ministers as they passed. His jabs were laced with sarcasm—referring to Minister Nitesh Rane as a “chicken thief” with the chant, “What to do with chicken thieves? Head down, feet up!” Rane has previously faced allegations over poultry scam-related controversies.

Thackeray also called Rane a “Chinese cat,” a comment that drew both laughter and raised eyebrows in the corridors of power.
When Legislative Council Deputy Chairperson Neelam Gorhe passed, slogans like “Mercedes!” were hurled in reference to her alleged luxurious lifestyle, prompting a visibly angry Gorhe to stop and glare at the protestors before walking on.
MLA Bharat Gogawale was mocked with chants of “Om Bhat Swaha,” and Thackeray mimicked him by draping a towel over his shoulders.
Minister Sanjay Shirsath, a recent addition to the Cabinet, was greeted with chants of “50 boxes absolutely OK” and “Corrupt government”, reflecting public anger over ongoing corruption allegations in the state.
Even former Education Minister Deepak Kesarkar wasn’t spared, as the opposition questioned the missing school uniform scheme, shouting: “Where did the school uniform go? Gujarat was given!”
The aggressive posturing by the opposition signals a heated political climate, with ethics, transparency, and public accountability taking center stage in the ongoing monsoon session.
