IMD has issued an orange alert for Pune Ghats and Konkan due to heavy rain. Kolhapur and Satara Ghats are under yellow alert. Light to moderate showers expected across western Maharashtra.
Pune | July 28, 2025: The intensity of rainfall across Maharashtra is likely to reduce slightly, but certain regions are still expected to receive heavy showers. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for heavy rain in the Pune Ghats, while other regions including Raigad, Ratnagiri, Satara, and Kolhapur Ghats have also been placed under weather alerts.
In the past 24 hours, Pune district recorded 8.2 mm of rain, with a maximum temperature of 26.3°C. The IMD forecasts heavy rainfall in the Ghat areas of Pune in the next 24 hours, while the rest of the district may receive light rain. Temperatures are expected to hover around 28°C (max) and 22°C (min).
Satara district saw 8 mm of rainfall, with the temperature reaching 25.6°C. A yellow alert has been issued for the Ghats of Satara, indicating possible heavy rainfall.
Kolhapur recorded the highest rainfall in the region with 20 mm in 24 hours. The temperature stood at 23.8°C, and is expected to rise slightly to 25°C. The Ghats have been placed under a yellow alert for likely heavy rain.
Solapur received 3 mm of rain, with a recorded high of 25.7°C, and is expected to see light showers, with temperatures reaching 27°C.
Sangli experienced 5 mm of rain, and IMD predicts moderate rain with cloudy skies. The expected maximum and minimum temperatures are 27°C and 22°C respectively.
The IMD has also confirmed orange alert conditions in the Konkan region, with chances of intense showers. Additionally, riverside residents in Kolhapur are advised to remain alert due to water release from Radhanagari and Chandoli dams.
Residents in affected regions, especially those in Ghat and riverside areas, are urged to exercise caution and stay updated on weather advisories.
