A ₹4 crore fraud targeting Kolhapur’s teachers and doctors has surfaced; 14 teachers and a doctor were duped between 2021–2023 with false promises of doubling money. Eight accused booked.
Kolhapur | July 24, 2025: A massive investment scam has come to light in Kolhapur district, where doctors and teachers were duped of over ₹4 crore under the false promise of high returns. The fraudulent scheme, which took place between 2021 and 2023, targeted trusted professionals in Radhanagari and Karveer talukas, with cases now registered at Radhanagari and Shahupuri police stations.
According to police reports, 14 teachers from Radhanagari taluka were lured into investing a total of ₹3.25 crore, while a doctor from Kasba Bavda in Karveer taluka was cheated of ₹1 crore. The victims were promised their investments would double in a short period, prompting them to contribute significant sums over the course of two years.
The matter has only recently come to light, with victims now approaching the police after failing to recover their money. A total of eight suspects have been booked in connection with the scam, which spanned nearly three years and preyed on the trust of educated professionals.
Police have initiated investigations and are expected to summon the accused for questioning. The case has caused shock and concern in the district, especially within the teaching and medical communities, who now demand swift justice and recovery of their funds.
Authorities have urged the public to remain cautious and avoid falling prey to high-return investment traps without verifying the source or scheme.
