Pune | May 16, 2025: Registering a complaint against Dattatray Namdev Kale, a Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) posted at IT Park Hinjawadi Police Station, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) charges that he took a bribe of ₹30,000, thus damaging the integrity of the police force.
Complainant, a 30-year-old woman, has husband under court custody. ACB officials state that PSI Kale oversaw the investigation and allegedly paid ₹60,000 to the woman in exchange for her providing the court with a favorable statement in return for assisting in obtaining her husband’s bond. Troubled and in need of legal recourse, the woman stated Kale subsequently agreed to pay an undisclosed bribe of ₹30,000.
On April 15 she formally visited the Anti-Corruption Bureau and left immediately as the Bureau began looking at the incidence.
Their first findings confirmed the demand for a bribe and guided the Hinjawadi Police Station to report under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
While Additional Superintendent Dr. Sheetal Janve and Superintendent of Police Shirish Sardeshpande are leading the investigation, Inspector Prem Waghmore is leading the field operations.
This story reminds us again the difficulties of people in obtaining justice and the basic need for moral conduct among police officers.
