Passengers to Pay Up to ₹1,225 UDF at Navi Mumbai International Airport
Mumbai | June 24, 2025:
Passengers flying from the soon-to-be-launched Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) will be charged a User Development Fee (UDF) of up to ₹1,225, as per a notification issued by the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA). The interim tariff has been approved ahead of the airport’s expected commercial operations later this year.
According to the approved structure:
- Departing passengers will pay ₹620 (domestic) and ₹1,225 (international)
- Arriving passengers will be charged ₹270 (domestic) and ₹525 (international)
The fee will be collected by airlines at the time of booking and is exclusive of applicable taxes. This ad-hoc tariff will remain in effect from the commencement of operations until March 31, 2026, or until a final tariff is determined by AERA.
Notably, these interim UDF charges are significantly higher than those at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), where current departure UDFs are ₹207 (domestic) and ₹726 (international), inclusive of taxes.
AERA stated that the temporary UDF structure is necessary to offset operational and infrastructure costs during the airport’s initial phase. Final tariffs will be revised once the airport achieves full-scale functionality.
Developed by Navi Mumbai International Airport Ltd., a subsidiary of Adani Airports, NMIA is set to become a major aviation hub, aimed at decongesting CSMIA and strengthening regional and international connectivity.
