PCMC @ 50: Pimpri-Chinchwad Gears Up for Citizen-Led Vision Ahead of 2032 Milestone
PCMC @ 50: 20,000 citizens to shape Pimpri-Chinchwad’s future. Women-led survey to drive planning on transport, economy, and environment, ahead of the city’s golden jubilee in 2032.
Pune: The Municipal Corporation has started a broad urban revitalization initiative known “PCMC @ 50” with the intention of creating a greener, fair, and citizen-centric future as Pimpri-Chinchwad gets ready for its golden jubilee in 2032.
The core of this mission lies in a city-wide survey involving 20,000 residents, starting in the first week of May, which will help chart the developmental roadmap for the coming years. What makes this effort truly unique is the involvement of over 250 women self-help groups, who have been trained to lead this extensive citizen engagement campaign.
The survey will reach voices across social and economic segments—hawkers, vegetable vendors, rickshaw drivers, housing society members, slum residents, middle-class families, businessmen, students, and community groups—to understand their needs, expectations, and ideas for the city’s growth.
Prior to this, focus group discussions with 1,500 stakeholders were conducted between January and March 2025, generating key insights that will feed into the planning process
Deputy Commissioner Vitthal Joshi emphasized that the initiative aims for broad social representation. Alongside him, officials like Anna Bodde (Information and Public Relations) and Tanaji Narle (Social Development) were present during the launch with the trained SHG women, highlighting the collaborative effort behind the mission.
Key areas under focus include urban transport, environment, infrastructure, technology, public services, and economic development. The initiative is being supported by Tata Strive and the City Transformation Office, who jointly conducted training sessions at Acharya Atre Natyagruha Mandir.
With ‘PCMC @ 50’, the corporation is not just celebrating a milestone—it’s laying the foundation for a citizen-inspired future.
