The PCPL Twenty-20 Tournament opened with victories for Chhatrapati Sambhaji Kings and Vishwa Tigers. Kings defeated Bunts Warriors by 18 runs, while Tigers edged out More Patil Packers by 7 runs.

Pune| May 16, 2025: The much-awaited Pimpri Chinchwad Premier League (PCPL) Twenty-20 Cricket Tournament began on May 16, as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Kings and Vishwa Tigers emerged victorious on the opening day. The tournament, organized by the Pimpri Chinchwad City Cricket Association and sponsored by Oxyrich, was inaugurated by Janhvi Dhariwal-Balan, Executive Director of Manikchand Oxyrich, at the Four Star Cricket Ground in Hinjewadi.

In the tournament’s opening match, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Kings defeated Bunts Warriors by 18 runs. The Kings, batting first, posted a challenging score of 145 runs, thanks to Vishal Gavane’s all-round brilliance, scoring 20 runs and taking 2 crucial wickets. Atharva Bhosale top-scored with 41 runs, and Ajinkya Khandeshe contributed with 24 runs. Despite a resilient effort from Bunts Warriors, led by Ninad C. (38 runs) and Prashant Telange (21 runs), they fell short, managing only 127 runs. Chhatrapati Sambhaji Kings’ bowlers, including Saish Shinde (3 wickets), Vishal Gavane (2 wickets), and Harish Bakale (2 wickets), proved too much for the opposition.
In the second match of the day, Vishwa Tigers claimed a narrow 7-run victory over the More Patil Packers. Vishwa Tigers, batting first, set a modest target of 72 runs, with Arnesh Roy contributing a solid 34 runs. The Packers fell short, ending their innings at 65 runs, with Tilak Jadhav (33 runs) being their top scorer. Arnesh Roy’s all-round performance, including his vital batting knock, earned him the Man of the Match award.
The tournament’s opening day was attended by several dignitaries, including Pimpri Chinchwad City Cricket Association President Jagdish Shetty, Secretary Raju Kotwal, and other prominent figures such as Vasantbhau Kokne, Vijay Kapse, and Ravi Shetty.
