Pimpri-Chinchwad, May 17, 2025 — In the wake of a recent Supreme Court directive, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) carried out demolition of several houses reportedly built within the Indrayani river’s designated blue line. The move has sparked strong reactions from the affected families, who have voiced concerns and raised critical questions about the action taken.
The families, many of whom claim to have been regular taxpayers and water consumers under PCMC’s jurisdiction, expressed confusion and distress over the demolition. They argue that despite their compliance with municipal regulations such as tax payments and water bills, their homes were demolished without adequate warning or alternative arrangements.
Adding to the controversy are allegations directed at an individual bearing the surname Shirsath. According to the aggrieved parties, this person purportedly collected money from some residents with promises that their properties would be exempted from demolition. These claims have intensified public scrutiny of the municipal corporation’s handling of the issue.
Addressing the matter in an exclusive conversation with NewsDotz, PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh emphasized the importance of formal complaints. He stated, “We encourage all affected residents to file complaints with the corporation so that appropriate action can be taken. Additionally, PCMC will initiate suo moto inquiries and take necessary departmental action, including suspensions, if any wrongdoing is detected.”
The corporation has assured that it will handle the situation with transparency and responsibility. Meanwhile, the investigation remains underway as officials assess the allegations and work towards resolving the grievances of the displaced families.
