Pune | 07 June, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in this year’s G7 Summit in Canada, following an invitation extended by Canada’s newly elected Prime Minister Mark J. Carney.
The two leaders recently spoke over the phone, with Modi congratulating Carney on his electoral victory. During the conversation, PM Carney invited Modi to the upcoming G7 Summit scheduled to be held later this month at Kananaskis, Canada.
Sharing the update on social media, PM Modi posted, “Spoke to Canada’s Prime Minister Mark J. Carney. Congratulated him on his election victory and thanked him for inviting me to the G7 Summit at Kananaskis later this month.”

The G7 Summit is an annual gathering of the world’s seven largest advanced economies — Italy, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States — along with the European Union. The summit serves as a platform where these nations discuss pressing global and strategic issues, ranging from economic challenges to climate change and security concerns. Leaders from non-member countries are often invited to foster broader cooperation on global matters.
India’s participation this year underscores its growing importance on the world stage and the deepening ties between India and G7 member nations. With critical global issues on the agenda, PM Modi’s presence is expected to further India’s voice in shaping international discussions.
