Pune| May 29, 2025 : With the appearance of the deified Sant Dnyaneshwar and Sant Tukaram palanquins approaching on June 20, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority( PMRDA) has initiated a decisive crusade to remove illegal and dangerous hoardings along crucial routes in Haveli taluka, particularly Loni Kalbhor and the Pune- Solapur road.
In preparation for the annual palanquin procession, PMRDA has already dismantled 21 illegal hoardings from the Pune-Saswad and Pune-Solapur roads. These unauthorized structures, especially during the monsoon season, pose significant safety risks due to high winds and heavy rains. The authority aims to eliminate all illegal hoardings on these routes in the next 10 days, ensuring a hazard-free path for the processions and the public.
PMRDA’s Unauthorized Construction Demolition Department has issued strong warnings to advertisers and landowners to voluntarily remove such hoardings, especially those that are over-height, double-structured, or installed without permission. Failure to comply will result in unilateral removal by the authorities. Furthermore, Joint Commissioner Sanjay Gaikwad has directed that no new hoarding be erected without official approval from PMRDA.
The crackdown is being implemented under the direction of PMRDA Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase & supervision by Tehsildar Ravindra Ranjane, Police Inspector Mahesh Kumar Sartape, Branch Engineer Harish Mane, and other local police personnel. The initiative highlights PMRDA’s commitment to public safety, urban order, and smooth execution of important cultural events.
