Mumbai, 31st March 2025: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray, in a powerful address on the occasion of Gudhi Padwa, raised serious concerns about India’s deteriorating environmental conditions. He highlighted issues such as river pollution, deforestation, and reckless exploitation of natural resources, calling for immediate action.
Thackeray strongly criticized the increasing pollution in India’s rivers, particularly the Ganga, which he claimed suffers severe contamination during religious gatherings like the Kumbh Mela. He urged authorities to take decisive steps to mitigate the environmental and health hazards caused by water pollution.
The MNS leader also shed light on the alarming rate of deforestation, linking it to the extensive use of wood for funeral pyres. He advocated for the widespread adoption of electric crematoriums as an eco-friendly alternative, which could significantly reduce the strain on forests.
Expressing disappointment over the government’s inaction, Thackeray emphasized the need for stronger policies and public awareness regarding environmental conservation. His speech has ignited discussions among environmentalists and citizens, reinforcing the urgency of addressing ecological challenges.
Thackeray’s remarks serve as a wake-up call, urging both policymakers and the public to prioritize the protection of India’s natural resources before irreversible damage is done.
