Pune | June 12, 2025: A tragic road accident at Pune’s Gangadham Chowk on Tuesday morning claimed the life of a 25-year-old woman, Deepali Yuvraj Sony, and left her father critically injured. The incident occurred when a speeding truck hit their scooter. Deepali, a resident of Mukundnagar near Zambhare Palace, was riding pillion with her father when the vehicle struck, leading to her untimely death and causing serious injuries to her father.
In response to this heartbreaking incident, workers of the NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) launched a unique protest against the Pune Municipal Corporation. As a symbolic gesture of protest, they gifted a toy dump truck to the head of the road department, expressing their anger and demanding accountability for road safety negligence. The protest also saw party workers staging a dramatic act by role-playing as injured citizens to highlight the human cost of poor civic planning and reckless driving.
The demonstration underscored growing public frustration over repeated traffic accidents in the area and called for urgent improvements in road safety measures.
