The Armed Forces Medical College’s SIOG-25 conference united experts to advance women’s healthcare through hands-on training and inspiring discussions. New facilities, including a museum and skills lab, were unveiled, celebrating progress and dedication in Pune.
From June 27 to 29, 2025, the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) in Pune hosted the transformative SIOG-25 Inter-Command Continuing Medical Education (CME) event. The conference kicked off with a dynamic pre-conference workshop, offering hands-on training in critical areas like obstetric emergency drills, cadaveric dissection, hysteroscopy, laparoscopic simulation, sonography, prenatal testing, and subfertility procedures. Participants, including medical professionals from civilian and military institutions, left the sessions energized, praising the practical learning opportunities.
The event was marked by two significant inaugurations that honored AFMC’s legacy while embracing innovation. A new museum, Dharohar, was unveiled, showcasing the department’s storied contributions to women’s healthcare. The Brig SD Khanna Skills Lab, equipped for advanced simulation-based training, opened its doors to enhance clinical expertise. These milestones symbolized a commitment to blending tradition with cutting-edge medical education.
Over the next two days, the scientific program captivated attendees with skill-focused talks, panel discussions, plenary sessions, and three prestigious orations. Experts shared insights on clinical and surgical techniques, alongside vital soft skills like communication and teaching. The diverse group of delegates, including esteemed Armed Forces Medical Services faculty and civilian luminaries, fostered a rich exchange of ideas. The conference buzzed with collaboration, as participants explored ways to elevate care for women, from emergency obstetrics to advanced reproductive health.
