Pune | June 06, 2025: The suspect, 21-year-old Ramesh Prakash Satre from Katarad, Rahuri, Ahilyanagar district, was traced to his brother’s apartment in Borhade Mala, Shirur. The Crime Branch Unit 1, which had been assigned parallel investigations, intercepted a tip-off and arrested Satre. Under interrogation, he admitted to the crime, revealing the circumstances behind the murder. The crime was a result of a hot argument following refusal by the victim, an unfamiliar person to Satre, to indulge in unnatural physical encounters after a drinking spree. Angered by the rejection, Satre assaulted the man, resulting in serious wounds that caused his death.
The probe indicated that the victim probably was a vagrant since his identity is yet to be confirmed despite inquiries by the police. The body, found in the early morning hours, was found to have signs of a brutal assault with the attack implying a targeted and brutal one. Satre was taken to Vishrambaug Police Station for legal proceedings, considered a major breakthrough in the case. The police are still trying to establish the identity of the victim, working back from clues to provide closure to this horrific incident.
