A brutal attack that left Kothrud’s Chandralok Beer Bar shaken has reached a major milestone with Pune’s Crime Branch Unit 3 arresting a prime suspect after an eight-month hunt. The accused, 22-year-old Rohan Rajesh Dhiwar of Vadgaon Dhayari, belonged to a dreaded gang and along with other members, brutally attacked three persons in a merciless bid to murder them out of a past rivalry. Pune | June 06, 2025: The attack took place in front of Chandralok Beer Bar in Kothrud, where a group of 14 to 15 people, with Ravi Jadhav, Yash Gholap, and Barkya Lonare at the helm, brutally attacked Pratik Bhokre, Rohit Rahate, and Nitin Jamadar. The gang attacked the victims with a machete, aluminum pipes, and paving blocks, leaving them unconscious with an intention to kill. The brutal assault, born out of deep-seated animosity, left the victims gravely wounded and shook the community. The terror of the gang in Kothrud led to swift police action, with some members arrested and booked under strict laws, such as the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). But Dhiwar evaded capture and was at large for months.
Acting on a tip-off, Crime Branch Unit 3 were informed that Dhiwar had emerged at Swargate Bus Stand. The police squad, in a swift move to confirm, swooped in and arrested him. In interrogation, Dhiwar admitted to his involvement in the dastardly attack, supplying key facts that cemented the case against him. He was then handed over to Warje Malwadi Police Station for additional legal processes, taking the investigation one step closer to closure.
The gang’s actions had instilled fear in Kothrud, with their violent tactics and organized criminal behavior disrupting the area’s peace.
