Pune Police launched the PTP Traffic Cop app, enabling citizens to report traffic violations and road obstructions. The initiative ensures quick action, citizen participation, and privacy protection for smoother traffic management.
Pune | June 14, 2025: In a significant move to combat growing traffic issues in Pune, the city police have launched an innovative mobile application – PTP Traffic Cop App – aimed at empowering citizens to report traffic violations and road obstructions in real-time. The app was officially unveiled today by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in the presence of senior administrative and police officials.
The initiative, led by Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar and supported by senior officers including Joint Commissioner Ranjan Kumar Sharma, Additional Commissioner Manoj Patil, and DCP (Traffic) Amol Zhande, seeks to bring transparency, swifter action, and public involvement into traffic regulation. The application was designed and developed by private computer engineers Nitin Kane and Nitin Vaidya.
With this app, citizens can now report offenses such as illegal footpath parking, using mobile while driving, triple seat riding, black film usage, fancy number plates, and driving in no-entry areas. For the first time, law-abiding Punekars can become direct contributors to maintaining road discipline by uploading photos or videos of such violations — provided that the vehicle number plate is clearly visible.

Additionally, the app enables users to report road obstructions like accidents, stalled vehicles, oil spills, fallen trees, waterlogging, or abandoned vehicles, which can lead to congestion and hazards. The reports are reviewed within 48 hours by traffic police teams and necessary challans or responses are initiated.
Importantly, Pune Police has assured that citizen privacy will be strictly protected, and misuse of shared content will not be tolerated. The app is expected to drastically reduce manual monitoring pressure while increasing public participation and accountability in traffic management.
Pune Police has appealed to citizens to download the app and actively participate in promoting safe and lawful road behavior, as part of a larger movement toward sustainable and smart traffic governance in Pune.
