The family, away in Barshi for a memorial ceremony, returned to find their home ransacked, with gold jewelry, cash, and two mobile phones—worth ₹6.65 lakh—gone from a locked iron cupboard. Moved by his distress, the Loni Kalbhor police vowed to bring the thief to justice, launching a relentless nine-day pursuit that led them across state lines to Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh.
The thief, a 31-year-old with a history of 15 theft and burglary cases across Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, had targeted the family’s home during their absence. Using a tip from an informant, CCTV footage, and technical evidence, the police pieced together clues to track him down. A dedicated team was dispatched to Khandwa, where they gathered local intelligence and kept the suspect under surveillance. On July 23, 2025, they arrested him, recovering stolen goods worth ₹6.39 lakh, including most of the precious jewelry meant for the wedding.
