Pune takes a bold step toward sustainability with the city’s first 100% petrol- and diesel-free corporate transport fleet. Infosys and Routematic’s initiative tackles pollution and congestion, paving the way for cleaner urban mobility.

Pune | 31 July, 2025: Pune, a city often choked by traffic and air pollution, is witnessing a groundbreaking shift in how its workforce travels. Infosys, in collaboration with mobility startup Routematic, has launched the city’s first fully green corporate transport fleet, powered entirely by compressed natural gas (CNG) and electric vehicles (EVs). This pioneering move marks a significant stride toward sustainable urban living, addressing the dual challenges of congestion and poor air quality that have long plagued the city.

With Pune ranking among the world’s most traffic-congested cities and India dominating global air pollution charts, the need for eco-friendly solutions has never been more urgent. The new fleet, designed exclusively for employee commutes, eliminates petrol and diesel vehicles, reducing harmful emissions and easing the strain on Pune’s overburdened roads. By prioritizing sustainability, Infosys and Routematic are setting a new standard for corporate responsibility, showing how businesses can lead the charge in creating a cleaner, healthier city.

The fleet features a mix of four- and six-seater CNG and EV vehicles, offering employees a comfortable and environmentally conscious way to get to work. Routematic’s AI-driven platform enhances efficiency by optimizing routes, minimizing idle time, and promoting ride-sharing, which not only cuts emissions but also reduces the number of vehicles on the road. This thoughtful integration of technology and green principles aligns with Infosys’ commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals, turning ambitious promises into tangible action.

For Pune’s residents, this initiative is a breath of fresh air—literally and figuratively. The city’s commuters, who often endure long, stressful journeys through gridlocked streets, can now look forward to a model that prioritizes both their well-being and the environment. The green fleet is a beacon of hope, demonstrating that innovative solutions can address urban challenges while fostering a sense of community responsibility.

Looking ahead, Routematic has big plans to expand its sustainable vision. The company aims to grow its fleet to 10,000 vehicles by March 2026, with 30% transitioning to EVs within two years. Additionally, 24/7 EV monitoring command centers will be established across cities to ensure seamless operations. With a footprint in over 23 cities and serving more than 3.5 lakh employees, Routematic is poised to redefine corporate mobility across India.

This green commute leap is more than a corporate milestone; it’s a lifeline for a city grappling with pollution and congestion. By embracing CNG and EVs, Infosys and Routematic are not only transforming how Pune moves but also inspiring other cities to follow suit. As the fleet rolls out, it carries the promise of cleaner air, smoother commutes, and a brighter, more sustainable future for Pune’s residents.
