Pune gears up for a VVIP visit on August 1, 2025, with temporary traffic changes to keep roads safe and congestion-free. Key routes in Shivajinagar and Vishrambag will see parking bans and one-way closures for the day.
Pune| 01August, 2025: On August 1, 2025, Pune will welcome a VVIP, prompting the city’s traffic police to roll out a detailed plan to ensure safe and seamless movement across key areas. The measures, announced by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic Branch), focus on Shivajinagar and Vishrambag, where temporary changes will prioritize security and ease congestion during the high-profile visit.
In Shivajinagar, several bustling roads will be transformed into no-parking zones for the day. Streets like Harikrishna Mandir Road, Nargis Dutt Road, Lakaki Road, and Model Colony Road will see their usual P-1 and P-2 parking permissions suspended. This step aims to clear space for the VVIP convoy and prevent disruptions for residents and commuters. By keeping these routes free of parked vehicles, the police hope to maintain smooth traffic flow and enhance safety in areas that typically see heavy activity.
In Vishrambag, specific roads will be temporarily closed to one-way traffic as needed to accommodate the VVIP’s movements. The stretch from Sahitya Parishad Chowk to Vitthal Mandir and from Sharad Talwalkar Chowk to Badshahi Hotel will be reserved for the convoy’s passage. These closures reflect a careful balance between ensuring the VVIP’s security and minimizing inconvenience for the public.
The traffic arrangements stem from the police’s authority under the Motor Vehicles Act, allowing them to adapt road rules for special circumstances. The goal is to keep Pune’s roads safe and orderly while accommodating the demands of the VVIP visit. For residents, this means a brief adjustment to their daily routines, with the promise of a well-coordinated effort to keep disruptions to a minimum.
Commuters are encouraged to plan their travel in advance, especially around Shivajinagar and Vishrambag, to avoid delays. The police’s proactive approach underscores their commitment to public safety and efficient traffic management during significant events. While the changes may cause minor inconveniences, they reflect the city’s readiness to host a high-profile visitor with care and precision.
By evening, Pune’s roads are expected to return to normal, with parking and traffic rules reinstated. For one day, these measures will help the city navigate the challenges of a VVIP visit, ensuring that safety and order take center stage.
