Rajasthan School Building Collapse: 4 Children Dead, Over 40 Feared Trapped in Jhalawar

Four children died and over 40 are feared trapped after a school building collapsed in Rajasthan’s Jhalawar district. Locals blame administrative negligence; rescue operations with JCBs are underway.

Jaipur | 25 July, 2025: A tragic incident shook Piplodi village in Jhalawar district of Rajasthan on Friday, as the roof of a government school building collapsed, killing four schoolchildren and leaving over 40 feared trapped under the debris. The collapse occurred under the Dangipura police station limits while around 50 children were attending classes.

The school, which runs up to Class VIII, was in a dilapidated condition, according to villagers. Despite its deteriorating state, no repair work had been carried out. Around 8 children have been rescued so far, with the injured shifted to a nearby hospital. Critically injured students are being referred to a larger hospital in Jhalawar.

As soon as the incident came to light, local residents rushed to the spot and began rescue efforts. Four JCB machines are currently being used in the operation. Administrative officials and the District Collector are also present at the site, overseeing the ongoing efforts to rescue trapped children.

The disaster has triggered intense outrage among villagers, who blame the administration and education department’s negligence for the collapse. Parents and locals have gathered in large numbers at the rescue site and nearby hospitals, demanding accountability and urgent medical aid for the victims.
