Ravindra Chavan will become Maharashtra BJP president, with formal announcement on July 1. The BJP is accelerating state-level appointments ahead of naming its new national president by mid-July.
Mumbai | June 28, 2025: After weeks of anticipation and speculation, the suspense over the next Maharashtra BJP president has finally ended. Ravindra Chavan is set to take charge as the new state party chief, with his nomination process scheduled for June 30 and the official announcement slated for July 1 at 11 a.m. at Worli Dome. Senior BJP leaders and office-bearers will be present during the event.
This move comes as part of the BJP’s broader organizational overhaul across several states, a precursor to the high-stakes election of the party’s next national president, expected by July 15.
In a strategic step toward streamlining the party’s internal elections, BJP National Election Officer Dr. K. Laxman has appointed senior leaders as State Election Officers. Union Ministers Kiren Rijiju, Harsh Malhotra, and former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad will oversee the organizational elections in Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal, respectively. Their responsibilities include supervising the elections for state presidents and national council members.
The BJP has already completed state-level leadership changes in Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Telangana, Tripura, Andhra Pradesh, and others. Appointments for Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh are expected between July 4 and 11, while Punjab and Delhi will likely get new presidents after the national president is elected.
With the Monsoon Session of Parliament expected to begin amid turbulent political debate, the BJP’s central leadership is racing to complete the internal electoral process before the session opens.
