A fake ₹1 recharge offer on the ‘Navi’ app has financially trapped hundreds of youths in Dharashiv. Accounts were frozen and repayment notices issued, prompting police investigation and company complaint.
Pune/Dharashiv | June 17, 2025: A bizarre recharge scam has left hundreds of youths in Dharashiv in shock and financial distress. What initially appeared to be a dream offer—unlimited mobile recharges worth ₹4,000–₹5,000 for just ₹1—has now turned into a nightmare, freezing bank accounts and inviting police scrutiny.
At the heart of the controversy is a mobile app named ‘Navi’, which promoted a “Christmas Offer” promising one year of free mobile recharges for just ₹1. Lured by this seemingly unbelievable deal, many young individuals from Dhoki village and surrounding areas of Dharashiv district rushed to avail it. Some reportedly went to the extent of recharging up to ₹2 lakh, believing it to be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
But soon after, the situation took a dramatic turn. The company began issuing legal notices and recovery calls, stating the recharge was a technical error or misuse, and demanded immediate repayment. To add to their woes, bank accounts of several users were frozen, leaving many in serious financial trouble.
A representative of the app company has now filed an official complaint with Superintendent of Police Ritu Khokar, citing cyber misuse and financial fraud by the users. On the other hand, the affected youths claim they were misled by the app, which made no such clarification during the offer period. Their stance is clear: “If it was an error, why are we being forced to repay now?”
As per reports, over 200–250 youths from Dhoki alone fell for this recharge trap, and hundreds more across the state may be affected. The police have initiated an investigation, but the company-user blame game continues, leaving families distressed and local banks struggling to manage the fallout.
This alarming case serves as a reminder of how digital offers can spiral into financial disasters, especially when clear communication and safeguards are missing. For now, the affected youths await clarity, hoping that justice—technical or legal—will be served.
