A man in Gumthi village stabbed a woman in the neck at a temple after she rejected his marriage proposal. The accused is arrested; the victim is hospitalized and recovering.
Nagpur | August 8, 2025: In a shocking case of love turning into violence, a 32-year-old man stabbed a 20-year-old woman in the neck inside a temple at Gumthi village under Khaparkheda police limits after she refused his marriage proposal. The incident has created panic in the village, and the accused has been arrested by the police.
According to police reports, the accused, Roshan Sonekar, and the victim had a love affair for some time. Despite being married to another woman, Roshan allegedly remained emotionally involved with the victim. In 2023, he even divorced his wife after the victim expressed her wish to marry him. However, she later backed out of the proposal, leading to multiple disputes between the two.
The matter had previously reached the police, and a molestation complaint was registered against Roshan. Angry and frustrated over the rejection and legal action, Roshan attacked the woman with a sharp weapon while she was offering prayers at a Hanuman temple on Thursday.
Locals rushed the injured woman to a private hospital in Nagpur where she is currently undergoing treatment. The Khaparkheda police acted swiftly and arrested Roshan. A case has been registered, and further investigation is ongoing.
This violent act in a place of worship has sparked outrage and concern among local residents.
