
Reservation declared for Sarpanch positions in 71 Gram Panchayats of Haveli Taluka.
Haveli Taluka has introduced reservations for Sarpanch posts across 71 Gram Panchayats, ensuring more than 50% are reserved for women. This move seeks to promote fair and inclusive representation in local governance.
Pune, April 25, 2025: The reservation for the post of Sarpanch in 71 Gram Panchayats across Haveli taluka has been officially announced. A significant portion of these, over 50%, will be reserved for women, with 36 villages set to have Mahilaraj, while 20 villages will have the general category.
Haveli taluka, located near Pune, has witnessed rapid urbanization, making its land highly sought after. As a result, competition for power, particularly for the post of Sarpanch, has intensified. Against this backdrop, the reservation for the Sarpanch posts has been decided and announced today.
The public draw for the Sarpanch reservation was held at the Ganesh Kala Krida Temple. Key officials present included Tehsildar Kiran Suravase, Tehsildar Trupti Kolte, Haveli Group Development Officer Bhushan Joshi, Naib Tehsildar Swati Naste, and Sachin Akhade.
Tehsildar Suravase informed that the 71 Gram Panchayats fall under the jurisdiction of the Upper Tehsil Loni Kalbhor, Upper Tehsil Pimpri-Chinchwad, and Tehsil Haveli. The reservation process has already been completed for five Gram Panchayats — Agalambe, Nirgudi, Vadgaon Shinde, Phulgaon, and Kalyan.
The reservation includes categories for Scheduled Caste women, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribe women, Scheduled Tribes, and Backward Class Citizens, with the specific villages designated accordingly.
The general category for both men and women includes Gram Panchayats such as Kalyan, Manjari Khurd, Khadakwadi, and many others across the region.
The full list also includes Panchayats like Vadgaon Shinde, Phulgaon, Bahuli, and several others, which will be reserved for general candidates. This reservation announcement marks a significant step in ensuring fair representation in the governance of these rapidly growing villages.
