Amravati | July 2, 2025: A deeply saddening incident has come to light from Amravati, where Rajesh Shankarrao Patil, a retired police constable, ended his life due to prolonged illness. He was 61 years old.

Patil had retired from Fraserpura Police Station in 2022 after serving in the Amravati city police force. On the afternoon of the incident, while no one was at home, he reportedly took the extreme step and hanged himself using a rope.

Upon reaching the scene, Rajapeth police discovered a note in which Patil stated that his worsening health had made life unbearable. The note mentioned his struggles with diabetes and kidney disease, due to which he had lost nearly 20 kilograms in recent years.

According to Thanedar Puneet Kulat, the note clearly indicated that chronic illness and deteriorating health were the primary reasons behind his decision. Patil expressed that he could no longer endure the suffering and had chosen to end his life voluntarily.

This tragic event has sent shockwaves across the local police community and the city, sparking conversations around mental health and support for retired personnel battling long-term illnesses.
