Retired CRPF Officer Kills Daughter, Injures Son-in-law in Jalgaon, Love Marriage Turns Tragic
Retired CRPF officer Kiran Mangle killed his daughter Tripti and injured her husband Avinash for their love marriage in Chopra. Locals thrashed him and the cops apprehended him.
Pune, April 29, 2025: What would have ordinarily been a happy family celebration become in Jalgaon’s Chopra tehsil an act of cruelty and horror? Unable to accept her daughter’s love marriage, a former CRPF officer shot on a wedding ceremony, critically injuring her 24-year-old daughter Tripti and her husband Avinash (28).
After their marriage two years ago, the pair had been staying in Pune. They had gone Chopra to see Avinash’s sister’s Haldi ceremony. Nobody could, however, predict what followed.
Kiran Arjun Mangle (48) abruptly pulled out his handgun and shot Tripti at point-blank range as she walked towards her father. Avinash hurried to save her, but he also got struck by the bullets. Avinash was admitted to Jalgaon in a critical situation while Tripti passed away on the spot from injuries.
Furious at the incident, witnesses overcame the accused and battered him until police arrived to save him. Mangle suffered injuries in the scuffle as well and has been hospitalised. Visiting the crime scene, Superintendent of Police Maheshwar Rehi stated the case has been filed for murder. Mangle was admitted to the hospital after suffering injuries during the battle as well. He is accused of murder; verified Superintendent of Police Maheshwar Rehi inspected the crime scene.
This sad event highlights the strong social rejection to love marriages in some families—including among the educated and retired police officers. It also emphasises how public pressure, ego, and wrath could lead to irretrievable behaviour in families.
