About the Sansad Ratna Awards

The Sansad Ratna Awards are presented annually by the Prime Point Foundation, a Chennai-based NGO established in 1999. The award was inspired and guided by the late President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, who advised the foundation to recognize exemplary parliamentarians.

These awards are considered a unique form of civil honour, based on data-driven evaluation. The criteria include attendance, number of debates participated in, private member bills introduced, and questions raised in Parliament.

The Sansad Maharatna Award, a special category, is presented once every five years to exceptional MPs with long-standing parliamentary excellence.
