The palanquin of Sant Dnyaneshwar Mauli reached the Neera river early morning today for the sacred Neera Snan ceremony at Datta Ghat. The palkhi will now proceed to Lonand, with thousands of Warkaris walking in devotion.
Pune-Satara Border, June 26, 2025: The revered palanquin of Sant Dnyaneshwar Mauli today bid farewell to Valhe, the city of Maharishi Valmiki, and reached the banks of the Neera river for the sacred Neera Snan ritual. This holy bath ceremony took place early this morning at Datta Ghat, with great devotion and traditional fanfare, marking an important spiritual milestone in the annual Ashadhi Wari pilgrimage to Pandharpur.
The day began at 6:30 a.m. as Warkaris gathered for the ceremonial washing of Mauli’s paduka (holy footwear) in the waters of the Neera river. Devotees filled the atmosphere with chants of “Gyanba-Tukaram,” celebrating the deep spiritual bond between saints and their followers.
After the ritual, the palkhi resumed its journey and entered Satara district — the birthplace of Haibat Baba, who initiated this sacred palkhi tradition. As the palanquin crossed district borders, the Pune administration bid farewell to the procession, while the Satara district welcomed it with traditional honors and devotional fervor.
The Sant Dnyaneshwar Mauli Palkhi will halt at Lonand for the night, where thousands of devotees will participate in bhajans, spiritual discourses, and devotional activities.
This journey is part of the Ashadhi Wari, an age-old spiritual tradition where devotees from across Maharashtra and beyond walk hundreds of kilometers toward Pandharpur, chanting the name of Lord Vitthal. The palanquin of Sant Tukaram Maharaj began from Dehu on June 18, while Sant Dnyaneshwar Mauli’s palkhi departed from Alandi on June 19. Both processions are on foot, bound for Pandharpur, where they will arrive on July 5 for the grand Ashadhi Ekadashi celebration.
The Neera Snan is not just a physical bath but a symbolic act of purification, marking the spiritual transition of the devotees and the beginning of their deeper inward journey toward the divine.
Thousands continue to join the Wari, keeping the sacred flame of devotion alive as the palkhis move forward with faith, discipline, and joy.
