Shilpa Shirodkar recalls a false death rumour during Raghuveer’s 1995 shoot, which triggered panic among fans and family. She later learned it may have been a film promotion tactic.
Mumbai | 22 July, 2025: In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, 90s Bollywood actress Shilpa Shirodkar revealed a shocking incident from 1995, when false rumours of her death during the shoot of Raghuveer spread like wildfire. According to Shilpa, she was shooting in Manali with actor Sunil Shetty when this disturbing rumour emerged, claiming she had died after being shot on set.
Shilpa said the rumour created panic not only among fans but also in her own family. Her father kept calling the hotel repeatedly, but due to the absence of mobile phones back then, he couldn’t reach her. When she returned to her hotel after the shoot, she saw nearly 20-25 missed calls. “My parents were extremely worried. The news had even reached the newspapers,” she said.
What shocked Shilpa even more was when the film’s producers told her that the rumour might have been a publicity tactic for the film. Alongside Sunil Shetty, Raghuveer also featured Suresh Oberoi, Sudha Chandran, Mohnish Bahl, Aruna Irani, Gulshan Grover, and Prem Chopra.
Shilpa recalled that confusion had spread among the onlookers at the set too, with people questioning who the ‘real’ actress was. She described the entire episode as deeply distressing and said it caused unnecessary trauma to her family.
