In Mhasala, Raigad, Rajesh Pawar was arrested for sexually assaulting a minor girl, leading to her pregnancy. He married her to conceal the crime, but a nurse’s alert led to police action.
Raigad| July 04,2025: In a disturbing incident in Mhasala taluka, Raigad district, a minor girl was sexually assaulted, resulting in her pregnancy. The accused, Rajesh Sonya Pawar, a resident of Kole Adivasi Wadi, allegedly assaulted the 14-year-old victim from the same area. To cover up the crime, Pawar married the minor girl after learning of her pregnancy.
The case came to light when the victim visited the Talwade Health Center for treatment. A vigilant nurse discovered the girl, aged 14 years and 6 months, was pregnant and promptly informed the Mhasala police. Acting swiftly, the police interrogated the victim, uncovering the assault and subsequent marriage.
The Mhasala police have registered a case against Pawar under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and arrested him. Further investigation is underway to ensure justice for the victim.
