Pune| May 30, 2025: A horrifying and deeply disturbing double murder has rocked Garsuli village in Renapur taluka of Latur quarter, exposing the dark swings of particular revenge and social uneasiness. An elderly woman was oppressively killed and her disabled husband thrown into a well — all reportedly over a verbal personality.
The victims, Pushpalata and Raosaheb Katale, lived alone in an akhada on their farmland while their only son works in Hyderabad. Late at night, a villager identified as Pandit Ravankule, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, barged into their shed. Enraged by Pushpalata’s repeated remarks—calling him “A Chora” (a thief)—he fatally attacked her.
According to the police, Ravankule first struck Pushpalata’s ear with a metal cooker, rendering her unconscious. He then crushed her head with a stone. Hearing the commotion, her disabled husband Raosaheb screamed for help, only to be picked up and thrown alive into a nearby well by the accused.
The horror didn’t end there. Before fleeing the scene, Ravankule allegedly snatched Pushpalata’s mangalsutra. This clue, noticed by relatives during the police investigation, became vital in identifying the culprit. Ravankule reportedly confessed after being confronted with evidence.
In a chilling twist, he was found mingling with the crowd that had gathered the next morning to witness the crime scene, pretending to be just another villager.
This incident goes beyond murder—it reflects a terrifying explosion of pent-up anger, wounded ego, and village dynamics that turned deadly. The accused is now in police custody, but the community remains gripped by shock and fear.
