Pune | 29 July, 2025: A tragic incident has shaken Pune’s Hinjewadi IT hub, highlighting once again the immense pressure faced by employees in the IT sector. Piyush Ashok Kawade, a 28-year-old software engineer working at ‘Atlas Copco’, died by suicide after jumping from the seventh floor of his office building around 10 a.m. on Monday, July 28.

Originally from Nashik and currently residing in Wakad, Piyush had been with the company for the past year. Moments before the incident, he reportedly left a meeting citing chest pain. Soon after, he jumped from the office building, leaving behind a suicide note that read, “I have failed in life, please forgive me.”

The suicide has sent shockwaves across the local tech community and raised deeper concerns about the mental health crisis in the high-pressure world of IT. The intense work culture, stiff competition, constant performance metrics, and internal politics have long been flagged as reasons behind rising stress levels in this industry. Sadly, some like Piyush find no escape.

Hinjewadi, once a quiet patch of land, has now become a bustling IT corridor with hundreds of companies. However, behind the glossy glass walls lies a growing struggle — one that needs urgent attention and humane solutions.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident, and further details are awaited.
