Viral video exposes prostitution racket in Shirdi, operating openly near key government offices. Locals demand urgent action. The scandal shocks devotees, damaging Shirdi’s spiritual image and raising administrative accountability questions.

Shirdi | July 15, 2025 – In a disturbing revelation from Maharashtra’s holiest pilgrimage town, a video exposing an alleged prostitution racket operating openly in Shirdi has gone viral, sending shockwaves across the region. The video, widely circulated on social media, features a woman candidly detailing how the body-selling network functions—from trapping customers to the time-bound transactions conducted at local lodges.

What’s more alarming is that these illegal activities are reportedly taking place right under the nose of key administrative offices—including the Shirdi Municipal Council, the Sub-Divisional Office, and even the office of Guardian Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil.

In the video, the woman, who claims to have come from Sangamner, says she rents a room in Shirdi’s Ganeshwadi area for ₹4,000. “We don’t speak directly to anyone. We pass the signal to those who are looking for it and then take them to the lodge. Aadhaar cards are taken at the lodge before entry,” she reveals. She further adds that many women from across Maharashtra are involved in this operation.

The fact that such a network is thriving in broad daylight in Shirdi—a city that sees daily footfalls of 50,000 to 1 lakh Sai devotees and holds the distinction of being the second-largest pilgrimage site in India—has outraged both residents and devotees alike. Shirdi, known for its spiritual significance and heavy police presence, is also a hub for financial transactions worth crores every day. The revelation has tarnished its international reputation.

Local citizens and social activists have now raised serious questions about the role of the police, administration, and public representatives, accusing them of turning a blind eye. They’ve demanded immediate intervention by the Superintendent of Police, District Collector, and the Women’s Commission.

Allegations are also surfacing about the involvement of some lodge owners in facilitating these immoral activities, with several such lodges reportedly being run by local residents. The citizens have demanded a thorough probe and strict action against those found guilty.
