Pune, April 11, 2025 – In a heartbreaking turn of events, Agustin Escobar, the President & CEO of Siemens Spain, tragically lost his life along with his entire family in a helicopter crash over New York’s Hudson River on April 10.
The devastating accident claimed six lives — Escobar, his wife Merce Camprubi Montal, their three children aged 4, 5, and 11, and the pilot. Reports suggest the chopper broke apart mid-air before plummeting into the river.
Just weeks before the tragedy, Escobar had shared a glowing LinkedIn post about his inspiring visit to India in March:
“What an inspiring week connecting with our talented teams across Bangalore, Pune, and Mumbai… Your passion, energy and commitment to excellence left me truly inspired.”
His message praised the innovation, dedication, and spirit of the Siemens India teams, calling India a “crucial part of our global success story.”
A seasoned leader, Escobar served Siemens with distinction for 27 years, beginning his career in 1998 as Head of Sales and Project Management within the Power Automation Systems division in Spain. He was on a family vacation to New York from Barcelona at the time of the crash.
Tributes have since poured in across social media, with former colleagues and employees remembering Escobar as a visionary leader, a kind soul, and a devoted family man.
