ST bus carrying 52 Warkaris from Pandharpur overturned near Chikhli after hitting a divider at 2 am. 15 injured. No deaths reported. Locals and police responded promptly for rescue.


CHIKHLI (BULDHANA), JULY 6: A State Transport (ST) bus carrying Warkaris returning from Pandharpur after Ashadhi Ekadashi darshan met with a serious accident near Chikhli in Buldhana district around 2 am. The bus, which belonged to Khamgaon Depot and was numbered MH 40 Y 5830, hit a road divider near the Mahabeej office between Mehkar Phata and Chikhli and overturned.

There were 52 Warkaris on board, all returning home after the holy darshan of Lord Vitthal. Following the impact, the bus toppled onto the road. The front of the vehicle sustained significant damage, though fortunately, there were no fatalities.

About 10 to 15 passengers were injured in the accident. Some of them were taken to Chikhli Rural Hospital, while others were shifted to Buldhana District Hospital. Most of the injuries were reported to be minor.

Local residents were quick to respond and assisted in the rescue efforts. The Chikhli police also reached the spot swiftly, helped manage traffic, and began a primary investigation into the incident. The cause of the crash is suspected to be either driver fatigue or mechanical failure.

This accident has once again brought attention to safety concerns during overnight journeys, especially when large groups travel during religious occasions.
