Supriya Sule’s praise of PM Modi’s diplomatic efforts during Operation Sindoor raises political speculation, especially amid NCP merger talks. Modi’s inquiries about Sharad Pawar’s health added to the buzz
New Delhi | June 12, 2025: Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) MP Supriya Sule’s praise for Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stirred conversation in political circles, especially at a time when there is speculation about the possible reunification of the two NCP factions.
In a recent newspaper article recounting her experience during Operation Sindoor—an overseas diplomatic mission involving MPs—Sule complimented Modi’s leadership and diplomatic approach, especially in how India positioned itself globally in the fight against terrorism. She described Modi’s “diplomatic charisma” as evident and effective, particularly during times of international crisis.
The delegation, which included Sule and other MPs, met with PM Modi after their return. During this meeting, Modi personally inquired about Sharad Pawar’s health, showing a gesture that many found unexpectedly warm. Modi also checked in on Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi’s father’s health, reinforcing his personal outreach across party lines.
While Sule’s article offered sincere insights, her public appreciation for Modi has led to speculations about a shifting political tone, especially amid ongoing chatter about a potential reconciliation between the Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar-led NCP groups.
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut, reacting sharply to Modi’s courtesy, remarked that “if there was real respect for Pawar, Modi wouldn’t have allowed his party to engineer a split in the NCP.”
While Sule has not made any political commitments beyond her written reflections, her balanced tone and acknowledgement of Modi’s statesmanship are being read by many as signals of possible future alignments or softening stands in Maharashtra’s dynamic political landscape.
