PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh orders immediate action against illegal constructions and encroachments. Officers face suspension for delays. Vigilance teams and inter-departmental coordination will ensure early-stage prevention and strict enforcement.
Pimpri-Chinchwad | July 11, 2025 – Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Shekhar Singh has issued a stern directive to all city officials: act immediately against illegal constructions and encroachments—or face suspension.
In a high-level review meeting on Tuesday, Commissioner Singh emphasized the need for consistent and strict enforcement across all city zones. He warned that any officer showing negligence or delay in taking action would face immediate suspension. He also ordered the formation of special vigilance teams to monitor illegal constructions round-the-clock.
The meeting, attended by Additional Commissioner Pradeep Jambhale Patil, Joint Commissioner Manoj Lonkar, Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Agale, and other key officers, focused on addressing the growing issue of unauthorized buildings, footpath encroachments, and illegal weekly markets. Singh instructed officers to give a 24-hour notice before taking demolition action, as per rule, but stressed that there must be no delay once the deadline lapses.
“Sidewalks and public spaces belong to the citizens. Encroachments must be removed without compromise,” Singh said, reiterating the need for field-level vigilance.
Pradeep Jambhale Patil, Additional Commissioner, stated:
“Preventive measures are just as important as action. Officers must ensure illegal work doesn’t begin in the first place. Constant field monitoring is non-negotiable.”
Manoj Lonkar, Joint Commissioner, added:
“We are strengthening coordination between the Construction Permission and Encroachment Departments. Vigilance teams will work in shifts to catch unauthorized activity in its early stages.”
The municipal administration is now identifying high-risk wards with recurring issues of encroachments and unregulated construction. Drains, sidewalks, and open spaces are under special review. Singh also emphasized action against weekly markets operating without permission.
A dedicated team will now file real-time reports, and actions will be taken accordingly, Singh confirmed.
