How the Robbery Unfolded
Eyewitnesses and police reports reveal a carefully planned operation. A man entered the shop at Kalubai Chowk, Raikar Mala, pretending to browse gold chains. As owner Vishnu Sakharam Dahiwal engaged with him, two accomplices suddenly barged in.
What followed was a scene straight out of a crime thriller—the trio brandished what appeared to be a pistol, assaulted Dahiwal with their hands and the weapon’s handle, and then swiftly looted 25-30 tolas of gold jewellery before fleeing on a two-wheeler.
The Robbers’ Mistake: A Broken Toy Gun
In a twist that could help investigators, the fake pistol shattered during the escape and was left behind at the crime scene. Forensic experts confirmed it was a toy, but the psychological terror it inflicted was very real.
“The way they threatened and attacked me, I thought my life was in danger,” a shaken Dahiwal told police.
Police Response: Manhunt Underway
The Nanded City Police have launched a massive search operation, scanning CCTV footage and setting up checkpoints across Pune. Teams from the Crime Branch, K9 squad, and forensic experts are combing the area for clues.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Sambhaji Kadam assured the public:
“We have strong leads and are confident of cracking this case soon. These criminals will not escape justice.”
Locals Demand Better Security
The brazen nature of the robbery—in broad daylight, in a crowded area—has sparked anger among Dhayari residents. Many are questioning why criminals feel emboldened enough to strike so boldly.
What’s Next?
With the robbers still at large, police are urging anyone with information to come forward. Meanwhile, jewellers in the area are tightening security, fearing copycat crimes.
