Traffic Diversions Announced for Sant Tukaram and Sant Tukaram Palkhi Processions in Pune Rural

The Pune Rural District Administration has issued a detailed traffic advisory to manage the smooth movement of the historic Sant Tukaram Maharaj and Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi processions, set to commence on June 18 and 19, 2025, respectively.
As thousands of devotees prepare to join these spiritual journeys toward Pandharpur, District Collector and District Magistrate Jitendra Dudi has enforced traffic diversions under Section 115 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and a government notification dated May 19, 1990. These measures aim to ensure safety and convenience from June 23 to July 1, 2025, for Sant Tukaram Maharaj’s procession, and from June 22 to June 26, 2025, for Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj’s procession.

The Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi will depart from Dehu on June 18, following the Pune-Solapur route via Roti Ghat, Baramati, Indapur, and Akluj, reaching Pandharpur. Meanwhile, the Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi will begin from Alandi on June 19, traveling via Pune-Saswad-Lonand en route to Pandharpur. To accommodate these processions, alternative traffic routes will be implemented during specified hours, primarily from 2:00 AM to midnight each day.

June 23, 2025: Lonikand to Yavat – Vehicles from Pune to Solapur will be redirected via Wagholi-Kesanand-Rahu-Paragaon-Chauphala, and Solapur to Pune via Chauphala-Paragaon-Rahu-Kesanand-Wagholi.

June 25, 2025: Varwand to Undavadi, Baramati – Baramati-Patas and Baramati-Daund roads closed, traffic via Bhigwan.

June 27-29, 2025: Baramati, Indapur, Nimgoan Ketki – Closures with detours via Kalas, Bhavda, and Bhigwan.

These diversions are critical as the processions attract massive crowds, and the administration is committed to minimizing disruptions. 2.Devotees and commuters are urged to plan their journeys accordingly, adhering to the designated alternate routes. The order, signed on June 12, 2025, reflects the district’s proactive approach to balancing tradition with modern traffic management.

For the latest updates, residents are advised to stay informed through official channels. This spiritual event, rooted in Maharashtra’s rich cultural heritage, promises to unite communities while the administration ensures a seamless experience for all.
