Pune, June 24, 2025 – A heartbreaking accident on the Vadgaon bridge stretch of the Katraj-Dehu Road Bypass claimed the life of 25-year-old Kiran Pawar, a vibrant young man from Karvenagar, originally hailing from Tasgaon, Sangli. In the early hours of Sunday, around 5:15 am, a speeding truck collided with the motorcycle Kiran was on, also injuring his friend, Yash Kirdatta, 25. The two friends, who ran a vehicle rental business while pursuing their education, were returning from Katraj after a long day’s work when the tragedy struck. The truck went on to strike a car, which sustained significant damage, though its driver escaped unharmed. Authorities have detained the truck driver, a 37-year-old from Vijaypur, Karnataka, and are investigating claims of brake failure, with the Regional Transport Office conducting a technical inspection of the vehicle.
In another distressing incident later that day, 30-year-old Vikas Shinde from Chinchwad was injured near Chandni Chowk on the same bypass road. Around 4:30 pm, Vikas was riding his motorcycle toward Warje when a trailer truck’s rear tyre burst, causing the vehicle to veer and strike him. The impact dragged Vikas nearly 50 meters, leaving him injured. Warje police are investigating the incident, as the community mourns the loss and hopes for the recovery of those affected by these devastating accidents.
