Mumbai | August 8, 2025: Two separate but equally tragic accidents rocked Maharashtra on Thursday morning, claiming the lives of several individuals and casting a pall of grief over the affected regions.In the first incident, a horrific accident occurred at the new Kasara Ghat on the Nashik-Mumbai highway. A speeding container lost control and overturned, crushing the driver under the vehicle. The driver died on the spot. Upon receiving the alert, highway police and the route patrol team swiftly reached the location. After an hour-long effort involving a crane, the body was retrieved from the mangled remains of the container and sent to Kasara Hospital for autopsy. The accident had briefly disrupted traffic in the area, but it was soon restored by police intervention.
Meanwhile, in a heart-wrenching hit-and-run case in Gadchiroli district, four youths were killed and two seriously injured near Katli village. The group had gone out for their usual morning walk and were sitting near the Katli drain when an unidentified speeding truck ran over them. Two died instantly, while two others succumbed shortly after. The remaining victims are undergoing treatment. The tragic incident has left Katli village in deep mourning. Police are investigating the matter and efforts are underway to trace the unknown vehicle.
Both incidents have prompted renewed concerns over road safety and speeding across the state. Citizens and local leaders are urging stricter enforcement of highway regulations to prevent such recurring tragedies.
