
Undergarment Thief Busted in Pune: ₹7.3 Lakh Worth Stolen Goods Recovered by Yerawada Police"
“Yerawada Police arrested a theft suspect for stealing undergarments worth ₹8 lakh from a Jockey store; goods worth ₹7.3 lakh were recovered during investigation.

Pune | April 22, 2025 :In response to increasing theft incidents in Pune, Hon. Commissioner of Police, Hon.
Joint Commissioner of Police, Hon. Additional Commissioner of Police (Eastern Region), Hon. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-4), and Hon. Sixth Commissioner of Police, Yerawada Division, had directed intensified patrolling and swift action to expose theft crimes.
Following these instructions, on 19/04/2025, under the guidance of DCP Shri Himmat Jadhav (Zone-4) and Assistant Commissioner Smt. Pranjali Sonawane (Yerawada Division), and leadership of Senior Police Inspector Shri Ravindra Shelke, the Yerawada Police team received a tip-off about a theft suspect.An informant reported that Ganpat Dangi, accused of stealing from a Jockey clothing store (SL Enterprises) in Kalyaninagar, was seen in the same area.
Based on this information, the police team located and apprehended the suspect while he attempted to flee.The accused identified himself as Ganpat Mangilal Dangi, age 44, resident of Vitthal Nagar, Sinhagad Road, Pune. A case has been registered at Yerawada Police Station (Gur No. 280/2025) under BNS Section 303(2), related to theft of undergarments worth ₹8,00,000 from the shop.During interrogation, Dangi confessed to repeatedly stealing undergarments from the store since June 2024. On further investigation, the police recovered stolen items including ladies’ and gents’ undergarments, T-shirts, and night pants worth ₹7,30,000 from his possession.
The operation was supervised by Hon. Commissioner of Police Shri Amitesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner Shri Ranjan Kumar Sharma, Additional Commissioner Shri Manoj Patil, DCP Shri Himmat Jadhav, and Sixth Commissioner Smt. Pranjali Sonawane.
The arrest and investigation were conducted by the team comprising: Senior Police Inspector Ravindra Shelke, Inspector Pallavi Meher, PSI Vijay Thakar, PSI Sunil Solunke, PSI Pradeep Surve, and officers Datta Shinde, Tushar Kharade, Kiran Ghute, Sagar Jagdale, Anil Shinde, Amol Gaikwad, Prashant Kamble, Nataraj Sutar, Vijay Adakmol, Balaji Soge, Bhimrao Kamble, Sandeep Jayabhai, and Sudhir Sangde.
