Wakad’s Footpath Frustration: Illegal Stalls Spark Community Outcry

Pune|24,June2024-In the bustling neighborhood of Wakad, residents and shopkeepers near Ozone Springs Society are grappling with chaos caused by unauthorized street stalls cluttering the footpath along a busy municipal road. These makeshift setups have turned daily commutes into a struggle, blocking pedestrian pathways and fueling traffic jams that threaten safety and patience alike.

The Ozone Springs Society, a legally established residential and commercial hub on survey number 240/1, has its open parking area—officially registered under the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation—encroached upon by these stalls. Designated for public road use and certified as complete in 2015, the land is meant to serve the community, not obstruct it. Yet, the stalls persist, creating hazards for walkers and drivers while clogging the area with illegal vehicle stops.

Frustrated by the growing inconvenience, the society has lodged complaints with the Deputy Regional Office, pleading for swift action to clear the footpath and restore order. Despite these efforts, the authorities have been slow to respond, leaving locals feeling unheard and increasingly concerned about accidents.

The community remains hopeful that the municipal corporation will step in to dismantle the unauthorized stalls, freeing up the footpath for safe pedestrian use and easing the traffic woes that have disrupted their daily lives.
