In a powerful blend of tradition and wellness, thousands gathered in Pune to celebrate International Yoga Day through a unique “Warkari Bhakti Yoga” program. The event brought together spirituality, community, and physical well-being, uniting people from diverse walks of life under one holistic vision.
Organized by Savitribai Phule Pune University in collaboration with the Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Sansthan (Alandi) and Sant Tukaram Maharaj Sansthan (Dehu), the program was a spiritual yet health-conscious initiative aimed at integrating yoga into the annual Wari pilgrimage culture.
The event saw participation from government officials, university administrators, spiritual leaders, and thousands of students and devotees. Over 700 colleges joined the initiative, with more than 6,000 students performing yoga in sync across the region. The theme of “One Earth, One Health” echoed throughout the gathering, resonating with the broader vision of global harmony and well-being.
This year’s Yoga Day was not just a symbolic event—it marked a larger movement toward creating a healthier society by blending devotion with discipline. The Warkari community embraced yoga with enthusiasm, turning their religious halts into vibrant yoga sessions. For many, this was more than just an exercise; it was a spiritual practice, a moment of reflection, and a collective step toward harmony.
As yoga mats unrolled alongside dindis and devotional chants, a new tradition appeared to take root—one where ancient spiritual journeys align with modern wellness principles. Organizers expressed hope that the ‘Arogya Wari’ (Health Pilgrimage) would become an enduring part of the Wari culture in years to come.
