WNS Pune Under Scrutiny: Labour Department Flags Compliance Gaps, So Far No Action By Authorities

In January this year, after a tragic incident in which a female employee of WNS Pune was murdered on company premises, the Labour Department conducted a physical inspection of the workplace from an employment law perspective. The inspection uncovered significant compliance lapses, yet no visible action has been taken against the company so far.
Following the inspection, the Labour Department issued a formal notice to WNS Pune’s directors, directing them to submit detailed responses and compliance documents on 25 specific points. Shockingly, during the inspection, WNS was unable to produce even basic legal documents, including registration certificate and documents related to contract labour legalities. This raised serious concerns about the company’s adherence to labour laws and employee welfare regulations.
Despite these findings, two months have passed with no concrete action taken against WNS Pune. The lack of action has sparked frustration among workers rights activists, who are questioning the authorities’ delay in holding the company accountable.
