Pune | 25 July, 2025: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Yellow Alert for Mumbai, Pune, and surrounding regions on Friday, July 25, warning of light to moderate rainfall in the next few hours. Citizens are advised to remain cautious and take necessary precautions.
According to IMD’s advisory, Pune district is expected to receive light to moderate rain within the next 3 to 4 hours. Meanwhile, similar rainfall has been predicted in Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar, prompting Mumbai Police to issue an alert on social media urging residents to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary.
The police have also appealed to the public to avoid coastal areas, drive cautiously, and stay away from trees or old buildings, especially in areas prone to lightning. Their tweet read, “Our officers and staff are on high alert and ready to help Mumbaikars. In case of any emergency, please call 100 / 112 / 103.”
IMD has further advised citizens to check weather updates before stepping out and to plan travel accordingly, especially considering the likelihood of lightning in some areas. The public is encouraged to seek shelter in safe locations and not take cover under trees or weak structures during rainfall.
Authorities across districts have assured that emergency services are on standby, and citizens are being continuously updated about weather developments.
