Pune | May 24, 2025: Strict action is underway against drug abuse in the state, and any police officer or government employee found involved in such cases will face direct dismissal—not mere suspension, warned Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Speaking at the inauguration of the new Superintendent of Police office in Sangli, along with other key police infrastructure projects, Fadnavis reiterated the state’s uncompromising stance on drugs.
“Our country’s cornerstone is the young people, thus drugs are ruining their future. The government has a zero-tolerance attitude on drug trafficking, he said. Although he valued the Sangli police’s efforts, he made it quite evident that any internal drug-related activity will not be exempt.
The event was attended by Guardian Minister Chandrakant Patil, MP Vishal Patil, Dhananjay Mahadik, MLAs Jayant Patil, Suresh Khade, Vishwajeet Kadam, Sudhir Gadgil, and other dignitaries.
Drug abuse’s growing threat puts great risk to the stability of society and the future of our young people. The strict posture of Chief Minister Fadnavis—promising direct dismissal for officials engaged in drug-related offences—sends a powerful and required message.
Zero tolerance has to be represented in quick, open, uncompromising action rather than remain a catchphrase. Internal drug trafficking participation damages public confidence and compromises law enforcement reputation.
